Figaro: A Taste Of Paris In Los Angeles

If you have ever taken a stroll through the Loz Feliz Village you have no doubt been swept up into the simple romanticism that seems to hang in the air surrounding Figaro. The adorable Parisian café tables and rattan and fiber bistro chairs that have been fixtures of the sidewalk cafes of Paris for nearly a century beckon the passerby that possesses even a drop of desire to be enchanted and transported.

Sit outside and sip a delicious café latte or peppermint tea and enjoy the sights and sounds of this entertaining Los Angeles block.  Step inside and let your eyes feast upon the deliciously colorful bakery display, filled with green and pink macaroons, Madeline cookies, and brioche au chocolate.

Upon making your way to an inside table you will surely be charmed by the rich yet elegant color palette and furnishings.  Muted mustard walls, burgundy accents, and a rich wood bar invite feelings of lavish sophistication.  The large old mirrors and light fixtures are perfect in their imperfection.  The café has actually graced the pages of Vogue and been host to a Louis Vuitton photo shoot with the equally lavish and sophisticated Madonna.

A lovely and attentive wait staff is ready to serve.  Enjoy a brilliant appertif (a Bordeaux or Kir Royal are both nice options- I tried a New Zealand Riesling and was not disappointed) before tasting the escargot or the beef carpaccio.  They also serve a Beef Bourguignon that would not fail to delight Julia Child.  A great vegetarian option is the Raviolis aux legumes grilles (vegetarian ravioli served with a lemongrass tomato sauce) or the steamed artichoke with a delicious mustard dipping sauce.  They have a wonderful and relatively extensive happy hour menu as well with options like Lillet Blanc, Campari or a mini French Martini for only five dollars!

The next time you’re in the neighborhood, let the lovely magnetism of Figaro Bistrot gently pull you in, you will not be sorry.
