Jackie Evancho is a little girl with a big voice. Even though the 11-year-old came in second in the finals of America’s Got Talent last year, she’s become the biggest star from the show. Her operatic voice has amazed music fans and Evancho made classical music cool. Now the pint-sized superstar is performing at the beautiful Ravinia Pavilion as part of its Ravinia Festival to promote her new album, Dream With Me.

The Ravinia Pavilion is located in the northern Chicago suburb of Highland Park.  The Ravinia Festival is the oldest music festival in America and has hosted concerts since 1904.  The Ravinia is easily accessible by the Metra train and is just minutes from downtown on the expressway.  The Pavilion is a 3,200 seat open-air venue with state-of-the-art sound. The concert will be held rain or shine, so bring a poncho or umbrella! Families can get lawn seats and have a picnic right in the area during the concert. If you need picnic accessories, buy them from the Ravinia gift shop. Because the Ravinia is in a residential neighborhood, get to the concert early to get good parking. If you want to try the restaurants by the pavilion before the concert, try organic food from Mirabelle Restaurant or delicious ice cream from the Carousel Ice Cream Shop.

The Ravinia is not only a beautiful concert venue, but the Ravinia Reach Teach Play Programs give back to Chicago, too.  One program offered is the Ravinia Lawndale Community Partnership, which gives free music lesssons to children and adults from the West Side neighborhood. The Ravinia gives music education to an underserved neighborhood and also hosts performances from the students in the Ravinia Lawndale Community Music Conservatory. Go to the Jackie Evancho concert to hear great music in a lovely summer concert venue that also helps people in Chicago.
