Calling all San Francisco supporting, artsy feeling, creatively inclined individuals! Get ready to add a kick of color and musical spice into your weekly routine with the weekly Thursday San Francisco Arts Market. For those who happen to live, work, or wander near the Civic Center throughout the week, it’s about time you check out this communal hub of local artistry. Imagine free flowing dancers, hand- made crafts, exquisite artwork all under the July sunshine (because the SF summer rain gods simply cannot rain on this parade). As a colorful soul always seeking an event to support my local artisans, I can’t help but note how lucky we are to have the San Francisco Arts Market shaking things up every Thursday afternoon in the UN Plaza right off the Civic Center Bart Exit.

Yet, this weekly communal event strives to be more than a parallel to just other arts and crafts festival, but rather a transformational opportunity to spark a positive change in the Mid-market Civic Center region. It’s no secret that the City is a haven for brilliantly talented individuals, most of which haven’t been “discovered” or found the resources to promote their work just yet. However, this afternoon artisan’s delight gives local artists of all kinds an unique opportunity to unite and  set up shop for FREE,  selling your work to fellow San Franciscans while brightening the Civic Center scene.

Musicians and local bands- this means you too! It’s no question that music is an essential aspect of any communal festival. The City will need your vibrant beats and earth- shaking sounds to light up the scene every Thursday. So, if you’re a local band and/or musician looking for an open air venue filled with warm- spirited, inviting artists, then the Thursday San Francisco Arts Market is the spot for you. Local musicians and artists can apply for a spot through ArtMarketsf.org for further instructions and details.

Regardless of how well known you are in the local art and music scene, the San Francisco Arts Market is the place to meet, greet and expose Bay Area talent on a weekly basis. Exhibitors can rent tables for $7, chairs for $2 if need be, while tents are  provided by the organization. Come by this Thursday to the UN Plaza at 1182 Market Street in between Market and 7th Street to see this inspiring scene for yourself. Whether it’s a brief 30 minutes for your lunch break or a couple hours to acquire some locally made goods, the San Francisco Arts Market is ready and awaiting for supportive folks like yourself!
