Old Town Alexandria’s Christmas in July

Have your sandals turned into mini frying pans on which you roast your toes?  Does your hand stick to your brow when you reach up to wipe away your sweltering summer sweat? Yup, summer in DC! Escape and fantasize about the crisp, refreshing season that is sure to follow in five months. Explore and enjoy Christmas in July this weekend in Alexandria.

From July 16 through July 18, over 15 retailers, and community and city organizations will host a variety of holiday-inspired, fun-filled family festivities, both along the street (Union between Cameron and Duke) and in stores.

Enjoy activities, raffle drawings, shopping/ dining deals and holiday delights for all ages, including pictures with “Summer” Santa & Mrs. Claus, historical tours, holiday trunk shows, food and wine tastings, cookie decorating, storytime for tots, ornament making, arts & crafts, ice cream, paint your own nutcracker, green holiday home tips, fashion styling, pooch pictures, musical entertainment and more.

Union St. will also be giving back. Throughout the weekend, each participating business will have a donation box to collect toys for Carpenter’s Shelter, a homeless shelter located in Alexandria that serves families throughout the D.C.
