Nestled in 36 acres of Clifton, Virginia you could come across Paradise Springs Winery on your drive. While this winery is a newer winery in Virginia, opening its doors on January 16, 2010, it appears as if it has been open for many years. As well as the superb winery list that they have to offer. The winery has four whites that they offer and four reds, plus a rose and a sparkling. While the winery may only be a little over a year old they have already made a mark in the wine elite. Paradise Wineries 2009 Chardonnay was awarded the Governor’s Cup signifying it as the best white wine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon at the winery with my girlfriends. I was impressed with how many of the varietals that we liked. My personal favorites are: 2010 Nana’s Rose, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Tannat and the 2009 Meritage a blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvingon and Merlot.
The winery has recently opened it’s new tasting room that is a huge open floor space with plenty of seating for those looking to enjoy a glass or bottle after tasting. Withing the tasting room you can enjoy a view of their barrel and tank room which is glass enclosed and perfect for a small party. However, if you are interested in enjoying the outdoors, they have a covered patio deck off the tasting room and a front porch patio overlooking the acreage. The winery also offers snacks for purchase and you are welcome to bring your own picnic with you. Paradise Winery invites your whole family to come visit. Dogs are welcome on the grounds, just not inside the buildings. Children are welcome to visit, the winery just asks that they are managed and not left unattended.
The staff at the winery is friendly and waiting for you to come visit so they can introduce you to their wine. Tell them I sent you.
