She writes on the side to express her creativity, frustrations, and share funny little life stories. She currently writes fashion articles for eHow.com and has a blog about her oh-so-fun life. She was born and raised in Arkansas where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and accounting, only to find her true passion was fashion. She moved to the bay area to attend FIDM for design and merchandising. She enjoys traveling any chance she gets, whether it is a quick camping trip, wine tasting in Napa, hitting the slopes in Tahoe, or trips to see one of her many siblings in various places around the world. She has traveled to over 20 countries and plans on many more. For fun she loves to eat at new restaurants, experiment with her own cooking, host fabulous dinner parties (she could put Martha to shame), treat herself to spas, and feed her shopping addiction. She is a member of a book club, Museo Italian (for language classes), and attempting to not be kicked out of her knitting circle (one of her down falls). Lauren moved to San Francisco about 2 years ago and continues to find new and exciting things to do every weekend.

Adollup Salon in Portero Hill

When moving to a new city there are couple of things you need to find immediately such as a great sushi place, a taxi cab number, and a salon that you can trust.  I have tried way too many and have been disappointed, so I called around and found a hairstylist named Jamie Bagley who was nice enough to squeeze me in on a Thursday night.

My first encounter with Jamie was wonderful; I had to get a haircut before I went home for Christmas.  I walked into Sublime Hair Salon and she greeted with me a great big smile.  Before we began she offered me homemade spiked cider and then got to work.  While starting my shampoo, she asks all the right questions to really understand what you are wanting from a cut, did I mention she adds a extra long head massage with each shampoo.

After my third visit, Jamie informs me that she was opening her own salon called Adollup, and would be delighted to have me as a client.  Trust this ladies: if you can find a hair dresser that is fun to talk too, gets the job done right, and offers spiked cider-grab on to her, they are hard to come by.  I get more compliments on my hair when I leave her and not just for that night, but for the months to follow, it is the perfect “growing out hair cut”, not to be confused with the “going out cut”, which she also is amazing at.    I don’t leave there about to cry, instead I really love her work and she styles it in a way that I could actually mimic.   So many times I leave a salon knowing my hair will never look like that again.   Instead Jamie  asks what you do in the morning to get ready and she shows you little tricks and tweaks to get the perfect hair without spending the an extra hour.   She doesn’t try to sell you on everything in her salon,  she just knows hair and she gives you what you want while maintaining her level of expertise.  Hair cuts range from $55-90, colorings from $55-185, and other treatments as low as $10!  So you can spend months or years and thousands of dollars  looking for the perfect salon or you can go see Jamie and her staff at Adollup.  It is clean, fun, and if your lucky she has something delicious to taste in the back!
