Recap: Starlight Children’s Foundation’s The White Party

A crowd of DC-area young professionals, dressed head to toe in white, filled the first floor of Tabaq Bistro on June 9th for a glitzy event benefiting Starlight Children’s Foundation.  The White Party, organized by the Young Professionals Council (YPC) of Starlight Children’s Foundation MidAtlantic,  raised funds to further sustain Starlight’s mission- brightening the lives of seriously ill children through entertainment, education, and family activities.

Why the “white” theme?  Since so many sick children see doctors and nurses in white lab coats all day, Starlight encouraged attendees to show support by breaking out their whitest whites.  And show support they did- many women accessorized their white sundresses with pearls and ivory handbags, while the men kept it simple with crisp white polo shirts.

Guests enjoyed a variety of yummy cupcakes courtesy of Georgetown Cupcake, and sipped on creative cocktails, namely the Startini (vodka, soda, cranberry & orange juice), the Dark & Starry (rum, ginger beer & lime juice), and the Skinny Stargarita (Bethenny Frankel would be proud!).

A silent auction table further helped raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.  Among the items guests bid on were a signed jersey from DC United’s Chris Pontius, a set of ties from Vineyard Vines, and a wine tasting for two from the Washington Academy of Wine.

Nicole Kennedy, Community Outreach Coordinator for Starlight Children’s Foundation MidAtlantic and the key event planner for The White Party, mixed philanthropy and creativity for an event that was both stylish and successful.  Starlight’s YPC hosts several fundraisers throughout the year for the MidAtlantic chapter- be on the lookout for more events that support an amazing cause!
