Dress for Success Worldwide – West Suits 1000th Client

There was no shortage of ladies getting glammed up this past Thursday in Hollywood as Dress for Success Worldwide – West celebrated the suiting of their 1000th client, and I had the privilege of being there to celebrate the milestone with them.

David Meister with the ladies.

The honorees, which included the 1000th client along with two other  ladies nominated, received the star treatment as they were given makeovers from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and fashion designer David Meister was there to coordinate the perfect outfits for the women being honored.

The non-profit organination was started in 1996 by Nancy Lublin when she used a 5,000 dollar inheritance from her great-grandfather to help supply suits and other professional attire for disadvantaged women to wear on job interviews.

Since then, Dress for Success Worldwide has grown to over 42 states in the U.S. and ten countries around the world.

Dress for Success Worldwide – West opened its doors in Hollywood in 2009 and has been growing rapidly with support from local volunteers and donations—as well as help from The Style Network and celebrities like Niecy Nash and Jillian Michaels, and as a result helping more women in need than ever before. Even better, with corporate sponsorship from Dressbarn, Ann Taylor, Lia Sophia Jewelry and most recently Wal-Mart, the amount of women they will be able to reach is virtually limitless—now that is beautiful.

David Meister talking to attendees

CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide Joi Gordon said this 1000 suit victory is still only the beginning of how many amazing women the organization will be able to reach in the months and years to come. Director of West Coast Operations Tracey MacDonald said of the heroic ladies (clients of DFS) who have overcome so much hardship, as well as the dedicated staff  and volunteers “if we could have a theme song, ‘I’m Every Woman’ would be it”!
