The Angel Fund is a charity that fights Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) by supporting ALS research at the Cecil B. Day Laboratory for Neuromuscular Research at University of Massachusetts (UMASS) Medical. Angel Fund donors can feel good knowing that every dollar of the funds raised by the Angel Fund directly support ALS research.
Harpoon has supported the Angel Fund through its annual 5-miler race since 1992, and has since raised more than $350,000 for the Angel Fund. This year’s race is expected to raise over $100,000.
Although Harpoon’s race registration period for the general public has already closed, there are two ways to still participate in the event and support the Angel Fund: through volunteering, or through the Save the Harbor Save the Bay fundraiser, which has race bibs available for a $100 donation to its own charity. Save the Harbor Save the Bay works to restore and protect the Boston Harbor and its surrounding coastline and waters.
If you’re looking to volunteer for the 5-miler race, Harpoon advertises a variety of opportunities, with the most openings available for those seeking to help with the food lines at the after race party and those wishing to direct runners on the race course itself.
All volunteers will receive a Harpoon Helps Race T-shirt, breakfast from Au Bon Pain, lunch and access to the post race party.
