Holding strong to the number one spot in the box office, Fast Five grossed over $100 million in its opening week. Alumni cast members Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, and Paul Walker return along side newcomer, Dwayne Johnson.
Picking up where the fourth movie ended Fast Five opens as the main characters flee to Brazil after managing the escape of Diesel’s character from custody. The film delivers 30 straight minutes of non-stop action. The plot changes moods when the characters spend a great deal of the film orchestrating a plan for revenge against the corrupt businessman who set them up on a bad car robbery job. To ensure their plan pans out, the characters of Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and other previous Fast and Furious cast members are called in to assemble the perfect team. The reward of the perfectly executed scheme is the even split of $100 million. Johnson’s character’s, a U.S. federal agent, goal is to find the outlaws and place them all behind bars. All the while, the businessman sends his people to put a violent stop to the group’s plan of taking his money. While the team bears attacks from both sides, a twist of events leads a main character to turn to an unexpected side.
I’m a hopeless romantic gal who enjoys love stories and tear jerker movies. It should come as no surprised that I rolled my eyes and asked, “Why must Hollywood continue to make these car movies,” the moment my boyfriend suggested we see Fast Five. Ladies, if your significant other, or friend, invites you to watch Fast Five, agree! This was more than just a car racing movie. The film delivered heart stopping action with an Oceans 11 feel to it. Fans who highly anticipate the brawl with Johnson and Diesel will not be left disappointed. Female fans will also not be let down with mini love stories tied into the film, beautiful scenes of Brazil’s beaches and good looking men. I recommend Fast Five to everyone.
