I recently met breathing & meditation expert, Natacha Wenger, who teaches yoga for beginner to intermediate level. Her calm, natural presence instantly drew me in, which comes as no surprise after learning more about her. Her Yoga practice, called Yoga of Light, has a strong emphasis on breath, and lessons are available privately or in group session for anyone who wishes to practice the art of healing through breathing and meditation.
In Natacha’s classes, the breath becomes the teacher, as we learn how to let it guide us. By allowing ourselves to be guided by the breath, we open ourselves up to the natural flow of life, without forcing things to happen in a particular way. When we allow everything to be as it is, life takes over and carries us gracefully, rather than forcing our way through life, as we often or sometimes do.
Natacha’s students learn how to reach this level of awareness in daily life simply by observing the breath.
According to Natacha, breathing consciously is a form of self-inquiry, a practice of noticing uncomfortable energies in our own bodies and linking it to the mind. By breathing deeply we are able to observe our thoughts and emotions and therefore control them by observing and understanding them. When you control the breath, you automatically control the mind and the emotions, and your heart becomes more fully engaged. Your mind stops getting in the way!
Natacha takes us deep into our subconscious, “fishing” for uncomfortable energies, in order to magnify them and surround them with light. Under her guidance, we receive the opportunity to gain a new consciousness around something that has been bothering us deep inside. The goal of Natacha’s class is to stay connected to our higher power, to stay conscious, not to go on “auto-pilot”. When we harness this power, we are able to hold a loving space for ourselves and for others. Before you know it, uplifting others simply becomes pure joy! Who couldn’t use a little more of that!
Natacha has been studying yoga and meditation for years. Her practice has been influenced by her extensive world travels experienced as a model and actress for almost twenty years. She was fortunate to study with celebrated teachers like Shiva Rea and Deepak Chopra as well as many other seasoned practitioners and spiritual masters along the way.
Natacha believes that every “problem” is an opportunity to grow, a stepping stone, a doorway to growth and to freedom.
“Yoga is a breathing exercise with movement in it,” Natacha told me. “I’m not interested in teaching gymnastics. I’m interested in teaching a gentle, yet dynamic yoga sequence to empower students to discover their unique magnificence”.
Natacha offers private lessons throughout Miami, as well as group classes. You can find Natacha at Waalay in Key Biscayne offering a Yoga Flow class, and at Brickell Hot Yoga offering Hot Vinyasa Yoga. She also teaches yoga and meditation to the private residents of the Ocean Club in Key Biscayne.
