My Bougie Baby Launch Celebration: Shop for Your Little Fashionista While Supporting Local At-risk Kids

Wendy Pittman and daughter, Tiffani Rae will celebrate the launch of My Bougie Baby™ on Friday, April 15th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. in the Lower Level Lounge at The Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Washington, D.C. The Pittmans have an eye for sourcing the “best of the best” each season, and with the launch of My Bougie Baby™, the duo bring Washington area girls a well-edited selection of the latest styles by the hottest emerging designers. The event will feature their Spring/Summer Collection of trendy must-haves for young fashionistas are smart, comfortable, and affordable without sacrificing quality. Wendy’s concept was born out of a need to dress little girls while giving their wardrobe its very own unique style and character. Some of the size 4 through 14 pieces are girly, while others are funky and free spirited.

This event will benefit children in need in our community through the nonprofit organization, Courage for Kids which launched its GIVE BACK-pack initiative last year, sending all the children who graduated from Bright Beginnings Child Development Center for Homeless Children to Kindergarten with a back pack filled with books and school supplies. In 2011, Courage for Kids plans to expand the initiative to cover over 250 children in early childhood education programs at Bright Beginnings and CentroNia. 10% of the proceeds from My Bougie Baby™’s   launch celebration will go to sending at-risk children to kindergarten with a back pack filled with books and school supplies.

About Courage for Kids

Courage for Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, registered in Virginia as The Courage Cup. Our mission is to create, find, and support programs for at-risk urban youth that directly improve the health and well being of those children in the Mid-Atlantic region through financial support and volunteer commitment. Courage for Kids strives to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, their families, and our community…one need at a time.

In 2011, Courage for Kids is partnering with Bright Beginnings Child Development Center and CentroNia to sponsor all the children in Pre-K. Upon graduation, each at-risk child will receive a backpack filled with books and school supplies to take with them as they start Kindergarten. We are also working to supply Dr. Bear’s Closet at Children’s Hospital with books and toys to help boost the spirits of their young patients. A well-stocked Dr. Bear®’s Closet ensures that every patient has a gift for holidays, birthdays and most importantly, a little something to serve as a reward for their courage in fighting an illness.
