Kidz ‘N Action: A Fun and Interactive Playspace in Brooklyn

Even though it is technically spring it is still pretty cold over here in NYC. I’m happy that the flowers are budding and trees are starting to bloom but the slight nip in the air still makes it difficult to enjoy the great outdoors. To take refuge I have been exploring indoor playspaces and gyms with my daughter – to both exert her energy from being inside the house and as a fun place to spend the afternoon. One such place is Kidz ‘N Action in Brooklyn, New York.

Kidz ‘N Action is a full-scale play gym complete with a bright bouncy ballroom, a climbing maze with numerous slides, go-carts, an indoor rollercoaster, an area packed with arcade games, and a train ride. There is also a low and well-protected area for babies who are just learning to crawl and/or walk where they can freely play. The all-access day pass for $13 includes the use of all the rides and the gym and for $9 your child will have access to only the gym. Adults are free. My three-year-old wasn’t interested in the rides so I opted for the $9 pass and it was more than enough. She loved running around and climbing the big gym – complete with an obstacle course and bouncy balls. She also loved the on-site arcade games where she could ride in a kiddie police car, taxicab or a pretty princess house. For older kids, there is skee ball, driving games, and Wheel of Fortune – all for the chance to win various prizes.

After over three hours of playing and exploring this exciting playspace I finally got her to take a break and have lunch. Kidz N’Action has a small on-site café where you can purchase some pretty basic kid-friendly food like pizza, fries, knishes, and juice. They don’t allow outside food so take that into consider during lunchtime. During lunch she talked about how much she loved the place and how she wanted to have her four-year-old birthday party there. During our visit, I noticed two birthday parties were going on with party favors, pizza and cake.

After lunch, the place started to fill up with older kids and more birthday parties. It was relevantly empty when we arrived at 11 so by 2 it was starting to get packed and made it difficult for a smaller child to play (something to keep in mind if you have younger children). After a busy and full morning, we finally left Kidz ‘N Action excited to return (very soon) to our new favorite playspace.
