Recap of the Fashion at DC Oscar Night: Grecian Goddesses

Angie Diba in BCBG

DC Oscar Night is always an affair to remember, set in the breath taking National Museum of Women in the Arts. Not only is it a fun Black Tie, but it also supports the American Red Cross. While scoping out the cupcakes and drinks I spotted Angie Diba in a gorgeous ivory draped gown. Recently I have been having an obsession with anything that looks Grecian. Draping, one shoulder, vintage coins and slightly messy updos are all on my must have lists. There is something so effortlessly chic about Greek Goddesses. Diba’s BCBG gown accentuated her amazing shoulders and the ivory color set off her faux tan beautifully. I love how she kept her jewelry and hair simple, it made her eye catching pewter clutch really pop. Diba pointed out to me that her gown also had pockets! Pockets on dresses have been a huge trend recently, and I adore how it makes even Black Tie worthy dresses feel casual.

I had gathered in front of the Oscar viewing screen when Susy Young walked by me. She was also wearing a Grecian inspired dress by BCBG. Her off white, one shoulder, ruched dress with asymmetrical draping looked fantastic on her. Max Azria is the creative director for both BCBG and the much higher priced Herve Leger. Young’s dress looked very similar to Herve Leger dresses priced five times higher. Many designers do either diffusion lines or are creative directors for lower priced lines. Think you can’t afford an original Herve Leger, check BCBG because many of his designs look almost identical. Young’s updo looked like it was inspired by the gorgeous Mila Kunis.

Grecian dresses will take you into spring events with style, and will always leave you looking fashionable and fabulous!
