Brooklyn Baby Expo

You have probably heard this before but it bears some repeating: your life will change when you have a baby. Although these changes are amazing, they can be also daunting for new parents as they get thrust into a new life of diapers and swaddling and endless onesies and parent groups – all while entering parenthood in Brooklyn. Luckily, parents don’t have to feel alone in this new journey thanks to this weekends informative A Child Grows in Brooklyn Baby Expo.

Created as an extension of the wildly popular parent website, A Child Grows in Brooklyn, the educational expo, held on Sunday, March 13, 2011, is an exciting forum where new parents and parents-to-be can learn about everything baby such as establishing a sleep schedule, learning about the best baby gear, how to find a doula, how to hire nannies and how to green your home. The expo also includes various interactive demonstrations where parents can learn everything about baby yoga to CPR to car seats to how to make baby food. I also love that parents can test out strollers, learn about tummy time and even sneak in a manicure and test out bras (a must for a new mom).

The educational event also includes seminars and classes from experts including topics like “Raising a Good Sleeper,” “Best Baby Gear Gurus Tell All,” “Parenting Partnerships: How to Work Together,” and “The Expectant Parent’s Guide to Brooklyn.” Every ticket to the event also includes a cool swag bag and the opportunity to learn about more parent resources in Brooklyn (and beyond) from over 60 exhibitors such as boon, Diaperkind, Tribeca Parenting and much more.

Although everything will be changing in your life, it doesn’t have to be daunting – especially thanks to this exciting showcase of local businesses and resources available to parents.
