Andrea Rodgers is the Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of Miss A. She is a renowned marketer, entrepreneur and philanthropist actively involved in the Washington, D.C. community. Andrea founded three fundraising events: Blondes vs. Brunettes for the Alzheimer’s Association, The Courage Cup polo fundraiser -- now Courage for Kids benefiting at-risk youth and Fashion for Paws for the Washington Humane Society. Andrea also runs the Courage for Kids charity, which helps at-risk children in the D.C. area. Andrea has a foundation in IT having worked for five years in Public Sector sales management for the software developer, Peoplesoft. In addition, Andrea has been involved in public relations and marketing for a decade. She has been featured on CNN and Fox News, in a national advertising campaign for SK-II luxury skincare in national fashion magazines, served as blogger for Ann Taylor, partnered with Teri Jon, and has been interviewed by major newspapers and television networks across the world including USA Today, Washington Times, Washington Post, TV Tokyo and TV France. She was named a Top 10 Social Leader in Washington, D.C. by Politico and to Washington Life’s The Young & The Guest List as an influential Washingtonian under 40 years old. Andrea owns Socialite Marketing, a consulting business, and is a member of Vogue magazine’s Vogue 100, an exclusive group of 100 influential decision makers and opinion leaders across the country. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from Wake Forest University in economics and politics.

Reminder: Fashion & Beauty Event at Hela Spa + Salon This Wednesday!

In partnership with Courage for Kids, Hela Spa and Salon at The Collection in Chevy Chase will host a ladies beauty event to raise money and awareness for the nonprofit’s Give Back-Pack Initiative on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Courage for Kids launched its GIVE BACK-pack initiative last year, and sent all the children who graduated from Bright Beginnings to Kindergarten with a back pack filled with books and school supplies. In 2011, Courage for Kids plans to expand the initiative to cover over 250 children in early childhood education programs at Bright Beginnings and CentroNia.  Upon graduation, each at-risk child will receive a backpack filled with books and school supplies to take with them as they start Kindergarten.

Women who sponsor one child with a $20 donation to Courage for Kids will enjoy complimentary mini-facials, eyebrow waxes, sip pink champagne from Barefoot Bubbly and nosh on light fare, including delicious cupcakes from Sweet Tooth. They will also be able to see first-hand new services offered at Hela Spa and Salon, such as Gelish and Minx manicures, and Racoon International Extensions. Ladies will learn how to get gorgeous hair and glowing skin from the inside-out with Holli Thompson of NutritionalStyle.com; dress for Spring 2011 in the latest styles with EscapeToStyle.com‘s George Worrell, Author of On the Other Side of Style; and the benefits a Liquid Lift using Botox® and Juvederm® XC with Dr. Caren Exelbert Sadikman. About George Worrell

George Worrell owns and operates GMW Enterprises LLC, an upscale creative styling company that encompasses fashion, events personalized services and the like. As a creative consultant, Mr. Worrell is recognized throughout D.C’s fashion and political circles, having hosted several events and styled for various socialites and politicos. In addition to the creative services he provides, Mr. Worrell makes guest appearances on local talk shows and radio programs as a fashion and style commentator. These opportunities have afforded him the ability to build a fan base, expand his network and continue to do his life’s work which is to educate and uplift the masses on styling from the inside out.

About Dr. Caren Exelbert Sadikman, MD

Caren is a native Washingtonian and physician who specializes in facial sculpting through Botox and fillers.  Dr. Sadikman graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in 1996, and from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2000.  She trained at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in internal medicine and physical rehabilitation.  In 2004 and 2005, Dr. Sadikman completed a dermatology fellowship at the Washington Hospital Center, and subsequently trained in the use of lasers for hair removal, vein removal and facial rejuvenation, as well as in the administration of Botox and dermal fillers for facial wrinkling and laxity.  Dr. Sadikman now exclusively focuses her time and studies on facial enhancement through Botox and fillers.  She views aesthetic medicine as  artistry and recognizes the importance of tailoring care to each person’s individual needs.  A calligrapher and artist, Dr. Sadikman combines her keen eye and steady hand with her medical knowledge to improve people’s self-image and well-being.

Courage for Kids

Courage for Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, registered in Virginia as The Courage Cup. Our mission is to create, find, and support programs for at-risk urban youth that directly improve the health and well being of those children in the Mid-Atlantic region through financial support and volunteer commitment. Courage for Kids strives to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, their families, and our community…one need at a time.

In 2011, Courage for Kids is partnering with Bright Beginnings Child Development Center and CentroNia to sponsor all the children in Pre-K. Upon graduation, each at-risk child will receive a backpack filled with books and school supplies to take with them as they start Kindergarten. We are also working to supply Dr. Bear’s Closet at Children’s Hospital with books and toys to help boost the spirits of their young patients.
