Chicago Sinfonietta is truly an organization with a purpose. Founded by Maestro Paul Freeman in 1987, its mission, in part, is to, “remove the barriers to participation in, and appreciation of classical music through educational and outreach programs that expose children and their families to classical music.” Today, the Sinfonietta is the nation’s most diverse symphony orchestra.
This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, join the Chicago Sinfonietta as they pay homage with a moving tribute performance. I have attended the King Day performance in the past and it is incredible. Sinfonietta successfully challenges the stereotype that the classics are blah by blending classical music with other popular genres such as jazz, rock and world music.
After more than 20 years, Maestro Freeman is retiring from his post with the Sinfonietta. Join us at his final performance at “A Dream Unfolds.”
