Fun Filled Days and Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art

The beginning of a new year means New Year’s resolutions that we try and keep with all year. Short term goals we strive to achieve before the next year and also it means a brand new calendar filled with 12 empty months we can eagerly fill up with events. The Dallas Museum of Art has a list of events starting in January that might excite you.

Every Thursday night beginning January 6th, Dallas Museum of Art offers Jazz in the Atrium offering a variety of interesting talent. From 6pm-8pm you are given the opportunity to hear the Quamon Fowler Group whose stylistic approach consists of a mixture of straight-ahead, fusion, and bebop jazz combined with gospel, groove, and Texas soul, the 3rd Annual Tenor Madness Concert Honoring Marchel Ivery and many more including Jazzmeia Horn an up-and-coming vocalist making her debut at the Dallas Museum of Art.

There are also family fun events you can fill your calendar with. Every first Tuesday in the month admission is free to the Dallas Museum of Art.  Enjoy thematic art-making activities, story times, performances, and gallery activities from 11am-3pm. If you are looking for a more mature crowd, you can also catch some state of the arts lectures discussing contemporary art at 7:30pm on selective nights.

On January 21 the museum celebrates its 108th birthday. The festivities kick off at 6pm with an African drum parade. Soon after you can engage in concerts from Brave Combo and many more. For more information on and listing on events please refer to dallasmuseumofart.org.
