Breadwinner: Winning Recipes for Bread in Atlanta and Online

Okay, have you ever tasted a bread that was so good you thought you skipped right to dessert and bitten into a cake? Well, I have and I need to send you immediately to experience it as well. The inspiring company in our own backyard is where you need to go –

Breadwinner is as creative as they are tasty. The roots go back to the 2005 holiday season. Where this family got together to make Thanksgiving dinner and realized they had too many eggs left over. Not knowing what to do, they went through old family recipes and chose a pumpkin bread to use up the remaining eggs. They brought their pumpkin bread into a friend’s restaurant that Monday, and they sold all 10 loaves in one hour. Bringing life to Breadwinner. Since that day five years ago, they have been featured on the Food Network and the Today Show. They remain a family run company, and all of their recipes are still rooted in their grandmothers and mother’s kitchens

Their spunk and creativity does not stop at their inception, all you have to do is visit their web site to see the clever names they have for their loaves:

  • Papa Don’t Peach (my favorite)
  • Party At My Place Pumpkin Bread (the original)
  • Better Than a Bubble Bath Mocha Chocolate Chip Bread
  • Frankly, My Dear, I Don’t Give a Cran (another favorite of mine)
  • And the list goes on..

I love giving these as hostess gifts, as you never want to give something that they feel obligated to serve at the party (it may not go with their menu selections). It takes the guess work out of finding the perfect and unique hostess gift, especially during this heavy season of parties. I also have been known to serve them at my own parties, or give them to party guests to take home and enjoy. I love that their fresh breads remain fresh for one week on the counter, two weeks in the refrigerator, or two months in the freezer. They have also just opened a great new café, which is a wonderful treat as well. (But I don’t recommend going during typical weekday lunch hours as the line gets VERY long.)
