The Campagna Center’s Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend & Parade

The Campagna Center’s Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade is quickly approaching, so mark your calendar for December 3 & 4, and get ready to ring in the holidays with many fun-filled events for the family in Old Town Alexandria!  In their 40th year, The Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend is the largest fundraising activity for The Campagna Center.  The non-profit’s programs help children in Alexandria arrive at school ready to learn and ensure they are academically successful at each grade level.

Consistently ranked by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the Top 20 Events in the South, The Campagna Center’s Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade draws nearly 30,000 individuals and families.  Tourists travel from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to participate in this celebrated community event.

Be sure to stop by Alexandria’s historic Masonic Temple on Friday, December 3, to shop till you drop at the Christmas Marketplace, buy some heather and greens to decorate your house, bring your little ones for a special holiday tea with Santa Claus, and  then merrily toast your friends at the Taste of Scotland with a Scotch Tasting, Scottish Ales and light fare that evening.

Saturday, December 4 at 11:00 am marks the 40th anniversary of the historic parade, where over 100 Scottish Clans, pipe and drum bands, Scottish dancers, re-enactment groups, Scottie dog groups, dignitaries and, of course, Santa Claus will march through the streets of Old Town.  This year’s Grand Marshal will be Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary Richard Lochhead as the organization has officially partnered with the Scottish Government as a sponsor this year.

Be sure not to miss the priceless experience of having your family and friends ride an antique fire truck in this year’s Scottish Christmas Walk Parade by placing your bid by November 20 at 12:00 noon! The Campagna Center is accepting bids for the chance to participate in the Parade.  All bids should be submitted by e-mail to Carlos at cllano@campagnacenter.org.

Also on Saturday, be sure to buy a ticket to the Designer Tour of Homes so you can stroll through lovely properties in Old Town Alexandria that are dressed up for the holidays by acclaimed interior designers and local florists.  Tickets are required for the home tour and are non-refundable.   To purchase, click here.
