The Spring 2011 collection by Bensoni was a juxtaposition of “Bourgeois Bohemian” and “Cybergoth.” Benjamin Channing Clyburn and Sonia Yoon created something at once sensible and spontaneous. Silhouettes were long and flowing for day, but short and playful for night.
Various textures and prints were combined with the daring self-possession that the muse of this collection would embrace. There was a mixture of pleated organza, nature-inspired printed voile and silk, and origami influences, intermingled with unexpected bursts of neon.
For me, the cohesiveness wasn’t in the palette or a single unifying theme. Rather, the spirit of the girl this collection is designed for is pervasive throughout. I look forward to seeing what this duo does next.
