A few weeks ago, my 21-year-old god sister asked me to purchase her a pair of shoes as her back-to-school gift. I wasn’t aware that college students received back-to-school anything, but she’s a great student, a hard worker and my mini-me, so I said yes. In her effort to convince me why she needed these particular shoes, she explained that a portion of the funds go towards shoes for children in Africa.
I will be honest. I had a flashback of some of the shenanigans I pulled as an early 20-something. The first thing that I said to her was, “Girl, if you want the shoes just say THAT!” She directed me to the website of TOMS and it is there that I learn that his purchases really do support a good cause. This September, the company expects that it will deliver its One Millionth pair of shoes which, in my opinion, is pretty remarkable. Needless to say, I will be forking over the cash so that she can get her Leopard Print TOMS and I will be copping a pair as well! You should join us in shopping for a cause.
