Real Housewives of DC Preview

If you are a Bravo TV fan like I am, you’ve been seeing clips of Real Housewives of DC between segments of Real Housewives of NJ, Bethenny Getting Married? and other shows. I’m dying to see the new season of Rachel Zoe Project, Flipping Out, and of course Real Housewives of DCMy readers may recall that the production company reached out and filmed me a couple of times before the cast was selected, and I attended a few events where I was taped for the show.

Let me say, I am not bitter that Bravo “went in another direction” with casting. I’m actually quite grateful. I’m not “real housewife material,”  being single and living modestly like I do. Many people told me that I’d be “great” and that I “would be like Bethenny”. Bethenny Frankel is an amazing woman who is very bright, hard-working, and has done very well with reality TV — The Apprentice, Real Housewives of NY and now her own show, Bethenny’s Getting Married? It’s not lost on me that she is the exception — not the rule when it comes to Real Housewives.

Others told me that I should do it because I “have nothing to lose”. I would just listen to them politely, amused at the fact that these people didn’t really know me, had never met my family and really had no clue what I “have to lose”. My family wouldn’t want me on reality television — for me, and for themselves.

Anyhow, I know it has to be tough for these ladies to put themselves “out there,” especially in a city as conservative and guarded as Washington. I would like to give my readers from across the country, my take on the clips that are online now:

1st Clip — Michaele at America’s Cup of Polo – I totally agree with Linda Erkiletian, America’s Cup of Polo was not good for our city.  It didn’t benefit charities and vendors were never paid. The Salahis fooled everyone with the 2007 event, but after that people slowly woke up. I never attended any of their America’s Cup of Polo matches because I couldn’t stand the Salahis even when they were in good social standing, but did attend the May 2009 event, because I was representing the nonprofit, Innocents at Risk which hoped to raise money from the event, but afterward, the Salahis wanted $5000 from the charity! I warned the Founder of the charity, but unfortunately she was as taken by Tareq and Michaele as so many other people and was fooled. And no, Tareq, this event has never been the kick off to the Washington social season. This was not an event widely attended by Senators and members of Congress. It was not to that level. It was a total sham.

I think Linda makes a great impression on the show, and now I feel badly that I commented about her eyebrows the other week.  I suppose I’ve never been good at watching “what I say and do”.

By the way, Michaele “borrowed” someone’s house for the filming of Real Housewives of DC. This is the Salahis real home, which sits right by the highway and is not in a desirable location in Virginia’s horse country. Apparently, her own home wasn’t flashy enough for the image they want to portray. I hear that the woman of the house was upset to learn that Michaele went through her closet and wore her clothes.

2nd Clip — Dinner Party at Stacie’s – OMG! I didn’t think it was possible, but Catherine Ommanney may just be as delusional as Michaele Salahi. No, your husband’s photographs did NOT get Obama elected. Wow! Can’t believe you’d try to take credit for his election. I’m sorry Obama didn’t go to your husband’s award presentation, and didn’t RSVP to your wedding. He is busy running our country! Give the man a break! And please! President Bush is a great man, but I’m not sure he’s thrilled that you’re saying he was your husband’s “father figure”. I’m starting to understand why your husband is leaving you after such a brief marriage! Kudos to Stacie Scott Turner for keeping the event classy. I’m not sure how she was able to stay so cool and calm!

3rd Clip — Coming Up this Season – The funniest part of this clip is Michaele dancing around with Redskin pom poms for Tareq in someone else’s home where they are pretending to live, since we all now know that she was never a Redskinette. Unbelievable!

I was shocked by Catherine Ommanney’s comment, “I know you’re American, but have some manners!” I told you all months ago how she was an utter bitch at the opening of the Ted Gibson Salon in Chevy Chase, but I had no idea she’d have my eyes rolling as much as Michaele! Even though she said this to Tareq, of whom I’m obviously not a fan, I thought it really insults Americans and is not something a foreigner should say while living and prospering from life in our country. Perhaps, she should consider moving back home to England and leave us “rude Americans” and our President in peace.
