Caldwell-Flake Interiors Defining Style in Birmingham, AL

Every home has something to say and at Caldwell-Flake Interiors in Birmingham, Alabama, the mother-daughter team of Mary Ruth Caldwell and Lisa Caldwell Flake collects and pulls together the elements that give each home a voice. They unearth a home’s hidden talents and foster its capacity for creative expression by teaching it to speak in terms of space, light, color, shape and texture. The duo compose visual anecdotes that are all at once classic, curious and calming with style and sophistication. Caldwell-Flake Interiors seeks out the true character of a home by capturing the pure essence of the people who love to live there and beautifully set the stage for their daily acts of life to unfold.

A graduate of New York School of Interior Design, Mary Ruth walks what she calls her design tightrope, delicately balancing the classical with an unexpected edge. She has a meticulous eye for detail and a true talent for finding just the right mix to fulfill her client’s wants and needs. Over the past four decades a great many of Mary Ruth’s clients have become some of her dearest friends. And that is truly her very favorite part of the job.

The child of a designer, Lisa Flake grew up surrounded by fabrics, blueprints, renderings, wallpaper samples and endless creative brainstorming. She was raised to take note of beauty in everything around her. In 1998 Lisa joined her mother in the design field and brought with her boundless enthusiasm and a truly natural talent. By listening, observing and taking a fearless creative approach, she can transform a room into a work of art, while seamlessly incorporating convenience, practicality and the client’s distinct individuality.

Below is just a small sampling of their design portfolio showing their range featuring bold colors as well as traditional statements.
