After interviewing Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras a few months ago, I’ve been on a quest to track all things “Nacho”. I have just learned that he has been named the first-ever St. Regis Connoisseur. This is a really exciting development in the world of polo as through this partnership the St. Regis will be dedicating an entire new exclusive polo website.
The website will feature a global calendar of polo events, information on the basics of polo, and advice on polo etiquette and what to wear (I bet they suggest Ralph Lauren!). Most importantly the site will feature awesome polo related offers available from the eloquent and breathtaking St. Regis Hotels, as well as insider tips exclusively from Nacho on the polo techniques and his travels.
St. Regis has a long history of association with polo – you might recall that the Astor family, founders of the St. Regis hotel, attended polo matched on Governors Island in New York City. The St. Regis also hosts the wonderful St. Regis International Cup, which most recently took place at the end of May in the UK. Ready to see more about Nacho, the St. Regis and their involvement in the wonderful world of polo? Visit their new website at www.StRegisPolo.com.
Also, looking for upcoming polo matches with Nacho Figueras? I know that I am! Be sure to check out the The Third Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic ,
which will take place on June 27 on New York’s Governor’s Island. Last year’s event drew celebrities including Madonna, Kate Hudson, Marc Jacobs,Chloe Sevigny, LL Cool J, Donna Karan, Lucy Sykes, Rachel Roy, Hilary Rhoda and Alex Wek, who watched the British prince and the Argentine polo player face off for charity.
