Mani Pedi Tips and Trends: Why So Blue?
With warm weather comes one of my favorite things, sandals! Before I can even think about exposing my feet, I had to get in with my manicurist for a pedicure. Donna White, Senior Manicurist at Ted Gibson Salon, told me her top tips to get feet sandal ready. First, use a pumice stone in the shower every few days to keep your heels soft. Make sure to moisturize your feet and cuticles between pedicures. A great product is Aveda Foot Relief, it softens and smoothes calluses and dry patches.
White specializes in custom colors for nails and toes. Custom colors are when two shades of polish are mixed to create a color that compliments the guests skin tone as well as satisfies their color needs. White has created my signature shade, Avatar, which I have dubbed THE “it” color for spring. Avatar is a mix of deep marine cobalt blue and a shimmering turquoise teal. This nail color looks great with the current nautical trends. DC “it” girl, Nora Sommerkamp, was seen rocking it on her nails and toes at her birthday party at District. When taking care of your nails, White suggests as soon as your manicure starts to chip immediately take off your polish. She says that the exposed nail has the tendency to peel or chip. Apply a nail strengthening base coat and wait until your next manicure or follow with two coats of polish and top coat. Always color the free edge of the nail, White says this seals the nail and helps your manicure last longer.
