Back to Health Center Welcomes Joanie Stewart, Acupuncture Physician

Shara Posner, Doctor of Chiropractic and Managing Director of Back to Health Center, PLLC, is pleased to announce the addition of Joanie Stewart, Acupuncture Physician, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, to the holistic health center located at 900 Prince St. in Old Alexandria.

Dr. Stewart most recently worked at the prestigious St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital, Center for WellBeing in Savannah, GA. Prior to that, Dr. Stewart was in private practice in Sarasota, FL, where she graduated from the East West College of Natural Medicine. She has worked in both Eastern and Western medicine for more than 20 years. She has an impressive resume in that she served as Editorial Director for Lifetime Medical Television, has written for WebMD, and has worked as a Yoga therapist and instructor. She has extensive training in Cranio Sacral Therapy, Body Talk Access, and Acupuncture for Facial Rejuvenation.

“We are looking forward to the skill and professionalism Dr. Stewart brings to our group,” said Dr. Posner, who is also the owner of Back to Health. “With chiropractic, massage therapy, esthetics, weight loss, and acupuncture, we believe we can provide the perfect complement of services to promote health and beauty.”

Acupuncture is growing increasingly popular in the United States, and was recently approved by the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for not only pain management, but other health issues including: relief for allergies, asthma, digestive disorders, infertility, insomnia, anxiety, menopausal symptoms, and smoking cessation. Many insurance plans now cover acupuncture, including some secondary plans of Medicare. Patients are advised to ask their provider about their coverage.
