The First Lady’s Dating Advice

Michelle O

Mrs. Obama will be featured on the cover of Glamour magazine’s December issue, which will be on store shelves on November 10th. She will also give dating and other advice. Below is an exerpt of her dating advice in yesterday’s New York Times, and I have to say I wholeheartedly agree with her!

“Don’t look at the bankbook or the title,” she continued. “Look at the heart. Look at the soul…. When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good…. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”

Michelle also shares more in the NYT Magazine about her own marriage with the President:

“If my ups and downs, our ups and downs in our marriage can help young couples sort of realize that good marriages take work. . . .” Michelle Obama said a few minutes later in the interview. The image of a flawless relationship is “the last thing that we want to project,” she said. “It’s unfair to the institution of marriage, and it’s unfair for young people who are trying to build something, to project this perfection that doesn’t exist.”

I think it’s great that she is being so open, and think that this will really help all the young women who look up to her as a role model. I highly recommend that you read the rest of the NYT Magazine article and pick up the December issue of Glamour!
