Washington, DC Premiere of Eva Khurshid at Terra in Dupont Circle
Up-and-coming designers, Fatima Monkush and Nyla Hashmi showcase the inaugural collection for their Eva Khurshid line at Oriana Khatso’s Terra boutique in Dupont Circle. The line melds the conservative mores of the designers’ own culture with the Western professional woman to give a new take on what’s sexy. The Eva Khurshid woman does not participate in the gaudy race-to-the-bottom approach to tighter, shorter, and smaller clothing. Rather, the graceful lines of the clothing, found everywhere from the billowing silky blouses to the luxurious fabrics used for the perfectly hanging dress, have a far-reaching appeal. Eva Khurshid will be a favorite among the District’s diplomats and divas alike.
The evening at Terra, a leading boutique in trendy Dupont Circle, will feature a special appearance by both Fatima and Nyla, who are based in New York but have sold their line all over North America. The two friends will give a brief presentation of their transcendent line, discussing the inspiration behind the clothing and the unconventional aesthetic to their ready-to-wear collection. There will also be a fashion show with models wearing pieces from the Fall 2009 Collection and shoes from SimplySoles.com Kassie Rempel, owner of SimplySoles.com and designer of the lillybee shoe line will have her shoe collection available at the event.
“It’s important to realize that women of all religious backgrounds can be sexy,” the beautiful women point out, “A woman can be sexy in a non-traditional way that leaves something to the imagination.” In keeping with the mantra of helping a woman exude a confident and professional look, 10% of all sales from this evening of hemisphere-hopping fashions will benefit Suited for Change, a non-profit that provides professional clothing and career skills to help women attain employment and advance their careers.
Come out to see the innovative fashions of Eva Khurshid and enjoy an evening of cultural awakening. Engage with the exotic designers about their urbane clothing, all made right here in the United States, over sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and cocktails provided by Darlington House. There will be a roaming fashion show with models wearing Eva Khurshid designs and shoes provided by Simply Soles. You won’t want to miss this night of cosmopolitan flair at Terra, the only District boutique to carry this up-and-coming designer.
