There’s No Place Like Home: Saks Fifth Avenue’s Ruby Slipper Collection

In honor of the 70th anniversary of the publishing of L. Frank Baum’s legendary The Wizard of Oz. The collection, which will feature luxury shoe design pioneers like Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Giuseppe Zanotti, Manolo Blahnik, and Oscar de la Renta, also promises a dazzling array of jewels from Swarovski to add to the magic of the collection honoring Dorothy’s fanciful pair.

Although Judy Garland’s character’s heels were only about an inch and a half tall, designers have updated the ruby slippers to include much higher heels, ribbons, bows, and straps not found on the original pair.

Paired with this season’s hottest nude dresses or even the standard LBD, these rubicund pumps can spice up any outfit. To make these wearable for everyday ensembles, try a pair of dark denim and blousey, billowing top for a look that’s funky yet refined. Even though Dorothy original added baby blue socks with her ruby slippers, one could accessorize with edgy, textured tights for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.
