Real Housewives of D.C.

I’ve been in meetings stretching from Old Town to Del Ray to Georgetown to Chevy Chase all day, and just got online about an hour ago. In addition to the haters on Late Night Shots, The Washington Post has also picked up on the geekiness of my Memorial Day weekend. Some may call my creating the page vanity, but I see it more as an educational experience.
I have learned that Wikipedia may be more fiefdom than democracy –”the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit”. Take a look at OrangeMike’s Wikipedia User page and you’ll get a feel for the power and celebrity that these people develop. The expert users are able to earn all sorts of badges (much like a Wiki-Boy Scout) which give them special powers in Wikiland. They post these badges on their user page, much like flare in one of my favorite movies, Office Space. My page is still up for now, and it’s been interesting to see the debate.
On to a less geeky subject — reality television. You may have seen the rumor a few months ago in the DC Examiner and on gossip site, DC Sleez that there were cameras in town filming for a potential reality show. Well, if you missed today’s news it looks like the Real Housewives are coming to Washington. While Bravo has confirmed the new television show, they are tightly guarding any further details. I think it’s going to be exciting…
