As for the Inaugural festivities, I’ve been swamped. Saturday night, I attended Lyrics & Libations party hosted by Franco Nuschese, Jackie Kucinich, Matt Dornic and Becca Glover at Cafe Milano benefiting Horton’s Kids, a nonprofit which supports mentoring. I want to thank Becca Glover for the kind invitation, and terrific party! There are some party photos up at Metromix

Afterward, I went to a private membership only club in Georgetown, L2 with a group of friends. The BET Honors was Saturday night and they had their afterparty at L2, as well as a reception at Cafe Milano earlier in the evening. Apparently, Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett had been at L2 before I arrived. I did get a chance to talk with Star Jones and Al Reynolds.

On Sunday, I skipped the We Are One celebration concert on the Mall and watched it on HBO cuddled up with my precious Maltese puppy–Scarlett. Anybody else find it un-American that HBO was the only channel that could broadcast the show? I think it would have been nice if others could have carried it so that those who can’t afford or don’t subscribe to HBO would be able to have seen it, because it was such a great event.

Sunday night, I met up with some friends at Proof and then crossed the street to attend the Lincoln 2.0 Inaugural Ball. I’ve been to several events at the Smithsonian American Art Museum–it’s probably my favorite museum venue. The event was so well done. Many events skimp on food, but not this one which included hearty food such as sliced turkey, ham, roast beef, and plenty of salads and sides. The Kogod courtyard is phenomenal. I was lucky to have my friend and photographer, Zaid Hamid there to take some great shots which I will post in the coming days. The crowd loved seeing Anita Baker perform! I want to thank Bruce Gudenberg for inviting me to get involved in this incredible event!

After the Lincoln 2.0, we hailed a taxi over to FUR nightclub owned by my friend, Michael Romeo. Michael and his team which includes Reese Gardner and Caitrin Reed did a terrific job coordinating The IMPACT Film Fund’s “Artists Making an Impact” Party last night! My best friend and I watched Ludacris, Nelly, Sarah Silverman and Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels perform from the VIP room. The only perfomance that wasn’t completely amazing was Sarah Silverman. Her jokes were about the Jewish vote down in Florida and about how Obama shouldn’t have trouble getting used to the Secret Service because black men are used to having security follow them around. I thought she was inappropriate and lacked humor. The VIP room was truly star studded with the likes of Jessica Alba, Cash Warren, Gabrielle Union, Maria Shriver and a few others from the Kennedy Clan. I thought I saw McDreamy, Patrick Dempsey, but couldn’t get a confirmation. I have a cute picture of me with Maria which I’ll post soon.

This morning, I had to get up early to go to “Radio Row” which has been set up for all the inaugural radio coverage at a downtown hotel. I went on air three times with Blanquita Cullum, The Stephanie Miller Show, and Federal News Radio. Some of the shows are syndicated, so they will air live across the country. I was on the air with former model and Washington Times style reporter, Stephanie Green. She and I chatted with the hosts about Inaugural Fashion, the hottest Inaugural parties, The First Puppy, and even AskMissA.com. I highly recommend you read Stephanie’s front page article on Michelle Obama’s impact on fashion and her gown selection.

Now I need to do some work for my clients and rest up for tonight’s festivities!

  1. FYI – HBO dropped the signal so that everyone could watch the concert. They replayed it a few times, dropping the signal each time.

  2. I doubt you talked to “Star Jones and Al Reynolds” since they’ve been divorced for a year now. Are you lying about who you saw or did you just mistake one black man for another?
