12th Annual West Potomac Halloween Parade

It’s almost time for Halloween! One fun local tradition which you may not be aware of is the 12th Annual West Potomac Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 26th which is sponsored by Potomac West Business Association (PWBA) and the City of Alexandria. This event features a parade down Mt. Vernon Avenue for kids, dogs, and even baby strollers! More than 5,000 children, dogs, families, and parade watchers attend this fun event. The whole Del Ray neighborhood gets involved, as there are prizes for the best decorations for private homes and area businesses. Additionally, there are prizes for babies and their strollers, and for the kids who dress up. There will also be free goodie bags, entertainment, children’s activities sponsored by the Alexandria Jaycees, free food and an afternoon of happy memories.

If you’d like to participate with your four-legged friend, please contact Barkley Square Doggie Bakery & Boutique at (703) 548-3644. Registration will begin on the patio at 1pm, and the dogs will join the parade route as it passes Barkley Square around 2pm. Dogs and owners will make their way down to West Potomac Park, where judges will award prizes for “Most Original”, “Best Overall”, “Best Humane/Canine Coordination” and “How Could You Do This To Me?” for the dog who has been humiliated the most by his owner.  Prizes will consist of gift baskets and gift certificates from Alexandria retailers and restaurants.

Scarlett and I hope to see you all there!
