Karing by Kristina

Jane’s beautiful Golden Retrievers with other dogs she cares for at her home.

You’ve met Kristina Robertson before. She is the philanthropic entrepeneur behind Barkley Square Dog Bakery & Boutique and Karing by Kristina. I’ve told you a great deal about Barkley Square Doggie Bakery & Boutique, but I’d like to tell you more about Karing by Kristina(KbK). Kristina and her staff realize how important and special your pet is as a member of your family. That is why they offer a wide variety of pet care services. They want you to be able to design the service that fits you and your pets’ needs.

The other day, I met with Jane, one of Kristina’s dog caregivers. She is a kind 50-something single woman who left her legal career to follow her bliss spending time with dogs. Besides a love of gardening, live music, Jane has a passion for rescuing animals, and is a foster mom for GRREAT, Golden Retriever Rescue Education & Training, a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to the recue, foster care, and placement of Golden Retrievers in the greater Washington, DC area.  She told me the “Bed and Breakfast” service that KbK offers where client’s dogs are incorporated with her own family of rescued Goldens at her home which has almost an acre of land on the Potomac outside of Alexandria.

Through KbK, Jane also keeps busy by providing a daily walking service for her clients, many of which she’s had for 5 years or longer. She has taken care of a 5 year old Vizsla named “Anka” since the dog was 12 weeks old. She is very attached to this dog, as well as a English Bulldog named Nigel that she’s walked since he was a puppy. Not only does Jane take care of client’s dogs, she will also take out the trash and recycle bins, bring in the mail and newspapers, set alarms, adjust lights, water plants and gardens, raise and lower blinds, etc. KbK also provides a Yard Waste Removal service, Obedience Training, and Taxi Service for your pet.

Kristina Robertson only hires the best people to work for her. Her staff genuinely love animals, and will take the best care of your pets. KbK is a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Pet Sitters International, PAL, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, and the Del Ray Business Association. Kristina attends conferences regularly to make sure that she always on the leading edge of the pet sitting business.

If you are in need of a dog walker, or need someone to care for your pet while you are on vacation, I highly recommend Karing by Kristina. They make the process so easy for you, too. You just go online to register and schedule your services. Shelly Gaide will set up a time for the walker/sitter to come to your home to meet your pets and take notes on your special needs. Having KbK walk your dog during the week will allow you to focus on your business knowing your dog is in great hands, and having your dog do “Bed and Breakfast” with KbK will allow you to relax and fully enjoy your vacations.
