I want to thank Barkley Square Doggie Bakery & Boutique for hosting a great event this past Saturday to mark the Grand Opening of their store in the Del Ray area of Alexandria, and also to benefit The Washington Humane Society. The event was all about “tasting”. 
We had a wine tasting provided by Planet Wine, a cheese tasting provided by Cheesetique, and a coffee tasting provided by St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub. We couldn’t leave the dogs out, so we also had a doggie treat tasting provided by Barkley Square Doggie Bakery & Boutique. Artfully Chocolate-Kingsbury Chocolates also provided us with some delicious treats.
The Washington Humane Society brought their adoption mobile to the event, and attendees petted the dogs, and boarded the RV to spend some quality time with the cats that were brought out for the event, but unfortunately weren’t able to enjoy it as much as the dogs. Kristina Robertson remembered speaking to a gentleman who had told her he 
was interested in getting a Boxer. So when Kristina saw that the WHS had brought a Boxer out to the event, she immediately called the gentleman. 
He came out, fell in love with the adorable dog, and filled out adoption paperwork.
The event raised several hundreds of dollars for the Washington Humane Society, and found a dog a home, so we consider it a great success! I want to thank Kristina Robertson for using her store opening to raise money and awareness for The Washington Humane Society!
I highly suggest doggie loving fashionistas make the trip out to Alexandria to check out the adorable items that Barkley Square has for sale. I found an adorable dress for Scarlett by 
Little Lily, a Beverly Hills doggie designer who designed the doggie outfits for “Legally Blonde”, and has been featured in People Magazine, and Instyle. I also got an adorable dress which Kristina designed, a jeweled necklace, and some hair bows for Scarlett’s hair.
The Del Ray area of Alexandria is a darling little area. It’s “where Main Street still exists”. I suggest you spend a Saturday or Sunday browsing the stores, or better yet attend The Del Ray Art Festival, which will be held this year on October 3rd – 5th.
