My 911 Call Last Night

I haven’t been out until 2am in ages, but last night my friend and I went to a birthday party, and then  to a private club for a while. I rarely drink anymore and had been drinking Diet Coke all evening, so I was fine to drive us home. On our way home, as we were passing the beautiful homes on N Street on what was a crisp Fall evening, we spotted a young man wandering the streets in a daze. He was wearing nothing but a pale blue comforter that he was having trouble keeping wrapped around himself. I was concerned, so I pulled over and told my friend to yell out the window to him, and see if he was ok. She asked him a couple of times, and he wasn’t responsive, although he looked right at us. The light turned green, so we drove down the street, turned on to M Street, and then onto the Key Bridge making our way home to Alexandria.

Trying to be a good citizen and still very much concerned about the young man, I call 911. I didn’t want the guy to get run over. I told the 911 operator that there was a naked man roaming the streets of Georgetown around 34th and N Streets. The 911 operator asked for a description. Although I could have gotten more graphic, I told her he had “dark hair, blue eyes, very pale skin and he’s naked.” She asked for further detail such as height and weight, and I was like, “Honey, I don’t know. He’s naked. I’m sure he’s the only naked man on N Street. You can’t miss him.” I was assuming that he was a very drunk Georgetown student, but for all I know he may have been sleep walking.

I would love to know what happened from there. I hope the guy gets some help.

congrats, not only did this guy get kicked out of a girl’s apartment mid-hookup by an angry boyfriend (he had no clue she had one), but now he has a public intoxication ticket to deal with. great samaritan.
