A Hela Good Experience

Last week on my day off, I went to the new Hela Spa at The Collection in Chevy Chase. They are having a VERY soft opening with a full opening planned for later this fall. The spa is directly above Louis Vuitton with the entrace at the parking area rather than on Wisconsin Avenue. There is actually over 6000 square feet of space with a dozen or so treatment rooms, a huge hair styling area, pedicure stations, offices for the doctors, a relaxing lounge area, and even a party room for private events.

I had the Ingrid Bergman – a deep cleansing treatment followed by a microdermabrasion treatment for extra exfoliation, a relaxing facial massage, and a hand treatment. I highly recommend Terrie Thomas who was my aesthetician. In addition to being knowledgeable and professional, she was so nice and fun to spend time with.

Sometimes when you get a facial, the aesthetician will do a few extractions to make you feel like she’s going “above and beyond”. Maybe I had really clogged pores, but I feel like Terrie extracted every single pore on my chin, cheeks and nose. She was incredibly thorough. Her philosophy is that getting a skin treatments should be more than just relaxing, they should provide results! I completely agree, which is why I was thrilled that she gave my pores so much attention. She left my skin truly cleansed and exfoliated.

When she gave me the hand treatment and hand massage, she pointed out that I have the early signs of carpal tunnel, which I wouldn’t have known. I am now much more focused on ensuring that my computer keyboard is set up correctly, as I spend a lot of time working on a computer.

I didn’t think that Hela Spa at The Collection would measure up to my experience at Hela Spa in Georgetown, but it did! I suggest you check it out!
