Farewell to Two of Washington’s Finest

Last night, Washington bid farewell to my friend Ashley Taylor, who will be leaving her work at Ann Hand to study at the Gemological Institute of America in Florence, Italy. Before earning my GIA certificate in Diamond Grading, I had no clue how tough GIA courses would be. There is much more science and math involved than I expected. So I know Ashley will be studying hard in Florence, though hopefully she’ll still be able to take advantage of being in Italy.
Tonight, DC sends Kate Marie Grinold off to participate in “Miss America Reality Check” with the rest of the Miss America contestants. We wish Kate all the best, and know that she will make us proud!
Kate has been busy working for Innocents at Risk, a child-advocacy non-for-profit 501C-3 organization established to fight child trafficking through awareness programs aimed at educating the public of these crimes. They have established a public-private partnership with the United States Department of State to support our battle, and also partner with NGO’s. Kate is taking this issue to the Miss America pagaent as her platform. We commend her for bringing awareness to this important issue.
Please join me tonight for Cocktails & Cupcakes at City Tavern Club to wish Kate well, and to raise money for Innocents at Risk!
